Suddenly, the crowd began to part. A silence falls over them. It is Governor Lorenzo, with his family. He has come to watch the execution. He walks to the front of the platform, and addresses the crowd.
“I know that you have come here today to witness two burnings, but I have decided through the kindness of my heart and the wisdom of almighty God, that there shall be only one.”
The crowd begin to boo and hiss – they came to see death, and feel cheated.
